AS OF 12/15/07 WE WILL NO LONGER BE PART OF THE UNITED HEALTHCARE NETWORK HMO lines which include United Healthcare, MAMSI, MDIPA, Optimum Choice FAQ's
What can I do or expect now that my doctor no longer participates with my Insurance:
1. Can I still continue care here?
- Yes, we would love to continue your care. It will require that you pay out of pocket for your visit. We do offer self pay patients a 30% discount for visits paid at the time of service. If we have to bill you there is no discount.
- Will you bill my insurance? No, we will mail an itemized statement to patients to bill their insurance directly. You may contact the billing manager at 410-828-0624, if you do not get the statement within a week of your appointment. These statements will not be automatic, but by request only.
- Can I come 2 times a year instead of 4? Please discuss future appointments with your physician.
- Do you take credit cards? Yes, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express
2. My company renews insurance in December, what other plans do you take?
- We are currently participating in over 25 insurance plans; please call when you have your renewal papers to discuss your options.
i. ***** It may be cheaper to pay out of pocket for several visits a year as opposed to paying the extra costs of higher premiums with another insurance company. The billing department can help you sort through comparing costs of visits. They can be reached at 410-828-0624.
3. What other Endocrinologists participate with United Healthcare?
- We have reviewed their online directory which is significantly out of date. PLEASE call the number on your card to avoid any problems with bills from other offices. Document WHO you spoke to and make sure you tell them if you are not happy about this change. Again we apologize and hope to continue your care or see you return when it’s feasible to you.
